New Submission System?

This is a DeviantArt community collecting and exposing our members' best photographs of mother nature.

Announcements

Alright. Submissions are slowly coming along. We've gotten the bulk of them done, but we've still got some to go. But a new idea has been brought to my attention that might fix this problem.

A new user noted me recently about the idea of using the new Collections system instead of the gallery. Apparently a lot of other clubs are doing this in order to cut down on accidental favourites and whatnot. What do you guys think of this idea? Should we switch over to Collections?

This would give a link right to your deviations- all the comments and favs would actually go to you. You would be notified if and when your submission note got through to be processed. In order to make this switch, I would take a few days to go through the entire member gallery here to add everything to different collections, and I would have a collection folder for each major category of nature photography. It may take a while to make the initial switch, but it would make regular uploading a lot easier on us.

PLEASE leave your opinion in a comment below. It would be a big change for the club, but it may make a club this large much more efficient.

I think it's agreat idea. Some other clubs i'm in are doing this. It cuts down on things on my messages. I say go for it.

yeah, the Collections seems like a good idea. A few of the other clubs I'm with are now doing this, and it seems to be working out well for them.

I'm a member of quite a few clubs who've switched to collections, and they seem to be finding it works really well. Admins don't get the problem of misplaced favs, members still get exposure and unsubscribed members don't have millions of submissions in their inbox to sift through: win-win!

This would mean I'm not messaged with new art, but I have to go actively looking for it, though?

Cool idea — but only if I could watch your favourites list, and I suspect I can't. Hm.

I'm not totally against this though, if it cuts down the work required on your part.

I think it's a good idea, as long as you adopt the style of making screenshots of the collections and adding them as deviations to the club regularly, so that we are notified of additions to the collections.

It seems to be working extremely well in other clubs and I'm sure it would certainly make it easier on you guys.

Yes, I think it is a good idea. One of the clubs I belong to has one submission per 14 days and then on the 15th publishes a newsletter of that half month set of submissions. Then they start again and do a second set for the 2nd half of the month. Seems to work well so far. And on another I only get a couple deviations a month which seem to be composite of the submissions.

I will admit I am clicking through less, but that may be because I am still working through the regular submissions I get.

I don't see how it wouldn't help. Oh, and kudos to you guys for featuring all of us artists, by the way!
